I have a confession to make: when Jai and I, sitting in our basement apartment in Victoria, BC, dreamt of our Big Move to Nova Scotia, we often pictured ourselves with our very own homestead. There would be chickens, and sheep, a couple of ducks, and definitely some bees. We practically had a subscription to Mother Earth News. Now, that’s not how it worked out, and in the end, we feel like we ended up right where we belong – in our big old Georgian house set right in the middle of our very own small town. But, once in a while, that dream still twinkles in the corners of my mind. What fun it was, then, to get a chance to photograph baby Lewis on his one-month birthday, on his very own homestead – surrounded by happy chickens, fluffy sheep, and three loving older sisters, no less! Here’s a little sample:
God, these are absolutely incredible! I love the imperfections you captured… you know, like the half-smiles and muddy shirts. Makes me want to draw interpretations of your photos, which is rare for me. 🙂
ADORABLE! I love the vintage feel to this shoot– not vintage like yellow skies, but vintage like old quilts and sinks and timeless baby toes and little children.
